Since I have kids, I have reconnected with Pokémon.
So it was a no-brainer to buy Pokémon Let's Go Eevee. My 3year old enjoyed it a lot (and I would have quit PoGo otherwise).
It was a decent remake, a bit on the expensive side. Nothing more, nothing less.
And it sold well. So a sequel appears very likely.
Depending when it will come out, I will have a new 3year old, or a 5-7year old, so I might get it as well.
edit: In the meantime there was a whole controversy about Pokemon Sword and Shield, its DLC and its lack of progress and qualitiy content. This has been discussed very exentsively already, for this blog I only recommend the last post on this topic.
I am still hoping, Gamefreak, The Pokemon Company or Nintendo can somehow salvage the franchise (at this point it would be easiest, to drop the price of Sword/Shield + Season pass to around 45€, and nobody could complain anymore).
If they save the francise, and if they make Let's Go Johto, there is plenty of room for improvement.
- better story
Yes, the original story - especially of Silver/Gold/Crystal - was not that great. It is however not very likely, that they change it up.
- Pokemon Bank compatibility or at least with LGPE
I suppose they want to keep the "Go" Pokemons and the "real" Pokemons seperated, but they could make seperate boxes. Or just transfer from LGPE to its sequel.
edit: As of 2021, Pokemon Home as launched, and it is compatible with LGPE and also PoG. Compatibility is pretty much garantueed for all main titles.
-proper online trading system like in X/Y (GTS)
Trading Pokemon in (Ultra)Sun/Moon via the Global Trading System was tedious, but it worked. It was much better implemented in X/Y. Trading was always a big part of Pokemon, so Let's Go needs a proper trading system.
edit: Sword/Shield did not have a proper trading system, however it is incorporated into Home.
- Amiibo support
There are at least 7 different Pokémon Amibos, and at least 2 more are coming. It is high time they work with a (somewhat) mainline Pokémon game.
- make it cheaper
If there are no big improvements to speak of, the development of the sequel will be rather cheap: They already have a working engine, they must only add new maps and pokemons. And there are already 3D-models of them.
The biggest question remains, what Pokemon will be your sidekick this time around?

Let's Go Snubbul (Likelihood: Average (I wish, more likely: Low))
Let's Go Snubbul |
(I might maybe even think about preordering)
Let's Go Girafarig
My hope in a fire/fairy Giraffe inspired starter in Gen VIII was not fulfilled so far, but I would buy Let's Go Girafarig as consolation.
Let's Go Hoothoot (Likelihood: Low)
Let's Go Spinarak (Likelihood: Very Low)
Let's Go Sneasel (Likelihood: Average)
Let's Go Phanpy (Likelihood: Low)
Let's Go Houndour (Likelihood: Low)
Let's Go Corsola (Likelihood: Low)
Let's Go Unown (Likelihood: Low)
Let's Go Mareep (Likelihood: Average)
Let's Go Wobuffet ((Likelihood: Low)
Let's Go Eevee (again) (Likelihood: Average)
Let's Go Legendary/Mythical (Likelihood: Very low)
etc
Some improvement would be required to sell that game to me.
Let's Go Ledyba (Likelihood: Low)
Let's Go Sentret (Likelihood: Low)
Let's Go Chinchou (Likelihood: Low)
Let's Go Cleffa (Likelihood: Average)
Let's Go Igglybuff (Likelihood: Average)
Let's Go Bellossom (Likelihood: Low)
Let's Go Marill (Likelihood: Average)
Let's Go Hoppip (Likelihood: Low)
Let's Go Slugma ((Likelihood: Very Low)
Let's Go Pikachu (again) (Likelihood: Average)
Let's Go Swinub (Likelihood: Low)
Let's Go Gen II starter (Likelyhood: Average)
There would be a lot of improvement necessary, to get me to buy that game.
Everyone else is either even more unlikely, or I would not get a game centered around them.
Keep up the - constructive - critiscism because of Sword/Shield. #pokemondeservebetter
